Footpatrol for Fred Perry

a lookbook

When London sneaker store Footpatrol teamed up with Fred Perry to re-issue an original 1934 tennis shoe, it turned to Tack Studio to produce a lookbook for the collection. The result was the Rebel Tennis Club, a homage to Wimbledon champion Perry’s rags-to-riches story.

Perry, a triple Wimbledon champion between 1934 and 1936, was seen as a rebel in the tennis community and his working class roots jarred against the upper class establishment.  The Footpatrol collaboration aimed to further Perry’s idea that tennis is for everyone. Reissuing Perry’s shoe from 1934, the brands dubbed the new tennis shoe the Rebel Tennis Club.

Tack Studio’s lookbook for this spring/summer 2014 collaboration played with this idea of the Rebel Tennis Club. A series of images showed tennis being played in urban spaces around a city, with the models cast to reflect the idea that tennis should be inclusive.

Footpatrol and Fred Perry presented the tennis-inspired collaboration in time for Wimbledon. Tack Studio’s images ran across a range of channels including point-of-sales, in-store and social media outlets.
